Reno Jackson fully heals you. It's best to wait till the last minute to use it, either when your opponent has lethal, or is about to have lethal.

I just watched the bot use my Reno at 24 health with full control of the board and other same-cost options in my hand.

I guess you are using the default AI. Check out sepefeets silverfish AI. Reno won't be played if you are above 16 hp.
