Yeah, it simply doesn't work anymore today, I have tried it all too. I don't suppose it currently works for anyone?

By default game is installed in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Hearthstone\
This directory (C:\Program Files (x86)) is protected by system, you can move Hearthstone game client to other folder, like
d:\Hearthstone, then change the access permissions.
There is a group called [Everyone] in Windows, grant read access to [Everyone] to game's root directory and its sub directories will solve this issue.

Same here. Priviliges are fine, also for the Strings folder. Same problem.

Moved Hearthstone to c:\Hearthstone and changed the installation folder to it in battle.net config.
Everybody has full access to c:\Hearthstone
Reinstalled HearthRanger from scratch pointing to c:\Hearthstone
result: Same!

Same here: my effective permissions are on Full Control. I have turned off Enable inheritance in the Advanced settings of Security, then gave Full Control to Applications as well as Restricted Applications; all to no avail, as I still get the Please start game message :(

Moving Heartstone to the root dir of a drive, then giving Full Control to Everyone (propagating permissions downwards) didn't help either @JoyAdmin

Final solution:
Copy the following directory and its files
.\HearthStone\Hearthstone\Strings\enUS
to
.\HearthStone\Hearthstone\Strings\enGB
enGB directory does not exist by default, just create it by yourself.
Just noticed that English (US) and English (UK) shares the same text files, and enGB doesn't have its own files.
Will release bot patch soon to fix this issue.
This issue only happens on UK players !

Even running without Admin rights again, and the Game Type Unranked Play is back again :)

With the new update everything works fine, I also experimented moving the hearthstone folder out of program files like c:\Hearthstone and it worked before the update as well.

Hello guys,
got issue with logging, it keeps telling me Login failed:ERR_Connect_biding.
tried everything with allowing permissions and stuff like that, changing files from enUS to enGB, nothing worked.
Anyone could help me with that? :-(

there is a bug when playing standard. it is switching to wild even if i selected "standard" on game play mode. this only happened today.
