Hey guys,

I stopped using the bot to rank up to 5 from now on, because my power bill was up $50 due to leaving my computer overnight a few days in a row.

This was pretty ridiculous considering that I could have just bought the Witchwood 70 packs since the energy costs were so high. I am just using the bot now to play 100g casual/concede each day from now on.

Any tips to reduce the power consumption of HearthRanger? I was running murloc pala with Ljac's configs. I might just run the bot with a variant of zoolock from now on with default to prevent cpu usage from being so high.

First you can adjust bot's CPU consuming rate here:

http://www.hearthranger....n_low_spec_computer.htm

But let's do some math, here is the area power rate in Silicon Valley:

http://www.siliconvalley...vp/area-rate-comparison

$50 / $ 0.119 per kwh = 420 kwh

420 kwh / 14 days = 30 kwh per day (set to 14 days is much greater than 'a few days'.)

30 kwh per day / 24 hours = 1.25 kw per hour

Usually a desktop max power supply is 0.4 kw, and the running power usually is lower than 0.2 kw.

I'm curious what kind of computer you're using.

My computer is fairly new and can get computations off just before rope-time, so I feel that I don't really need to speed things up (especially since misplays are very costly in ranked).

The main issue is that my computer starts to ramp up and make a lot of noise when deciding what to do with a full board, but I think your math checked out and confirmed that something else may have been impacting my power bill.

Thanks JoyAdmin, if things continue to be bad next month I will let you know.

it would help if you post your hardware. but i would think downclock your GPU to minimum and disable power boost on your cpu
