Here's my opinion.

Botting, for many, has become a chore.

Wake up, check to see if its still running/has got gold, leave it alone. Rinse and repeat according to your frequency. Many chose the bot because the only aspect of the game they actually enjoy is popping new packs.

If you feel this way: leave. Hearthstone won't do you any good. Move onto a new card game. Botting is not worth it.

However, if you still love ranking and testing out decks, and botting is just the means to an end for you, by all means re-start.

When you open HR, you accept the fact that there is a 99% you will get banned somewhere along the line. To quote 1984, "we are the dead". It's just a matter of when.

As @WinXP said, botting had become a chore for many of us. After I got banned, rather than start over, I switched to an old account I had created to get Morgl.

I'm not even gonna bother trying to build a new collection.
It's enough to gather a bit of dust and craft a Golden Whizbang. It'll be fun trying to rank up with him. I also intend to play PvE content like Monster Hunt or Lethal Puzzles.
Who knows, maybe I'll even start playing arena.

The point is, this is a GAME. We should be having fun, not grinding gold every single day.

You're not wrong about having fun, but face it, no cards no fun

The problem with hs is that having fun is expensive since all the "fun" cards are legendaries or epics and require decks built around them, "fun" decks get smashed by meta decks, there are 3 formats to play (std, wild, arena).
AT LEAST with new accounts we'll get the "new player experience" the whole game is designed around

I'm out, personally. WinXP hit the nail right on the head when he said that even botting has become a chore. The only thing I'll miss from Hearthstone is Dungeon Run/Monster Hunt/...

It's ironic, when you think about it: only missing the meagre PvE content from what is supposed to be an online PvP game.

I might keep botting on new account and possibly extending license, but only when main admin says that they fixed "detectiability" of the bot (idk, by dynamically changing bot process name, but that might as well not be the case, since Blizzard could have made their detection algorythms better over time). I'm asking for that, because starting botting again, and getting on their to-ban-in-1-year black list, will be pointless.

But man, that feels bad I lost my all progress I got through over 1 year of botting. Come to think about it, it will take ONLY 1 year to get the progress back, but still, all adventures I had before botting went to shit, as well as most of wild cards I had that I will not get back (unless crafting them) + hero portraits and cardbacks 😢

(This forum account is not the one where I bought the bot, so don't bother checking my purchase history or something)

Exactly how i feel. I botted/hacked in many games before (diablo2, diablo3, WoW, gunbound, rakion, others..). Especially with botting, it becomes a chore of its own. I work on my computer all day, i wake up, first thing i do before signing on to work is to check on the bot, or start the bot. Was same thing with diablo, WoW..

My D2 account got banned (more then once, i had multiple keys) it was actually refreshing to stop playing it. But then again, i didnt care much. D2 keys cost like $15
Now 1 of my 2 HS accounts got banned (thankfully, my main account is safe, i spent lots of money on it.. all expansions, adventures, and many packs)

If you bot, you should just have the mindset of WHEN will i get banned, not IF i get banned.

What i noticed over my bans over the battle.net carrier, is that usually you get banned in the process of botting (it always happened for D2, and not HS acct. also got banned while botting on it, my main acct was not botting at the time)

I botted 2 Years ago and still not banned. I planned to create a new Account for Hearthstone botting and bot on it but since someone told me there were a banwave I hesitated.

My Plan :

Let's see if someone from the staff will give an statement about the banwave and future updates and then I will see how the community of Hearthranger developes. If there are enough people around who will continue botting I will reopen my Project and hope we have a nice time botting.

I've botted in several games ( including Hearthstone) and my main rarely got banned ( never on battle.net / reference was in other games). There are ways to REDUCE the risk of getting banned, but if you cheat/bot you have to accept that you could get a ban anytime.

With best regards,
Valorion

When it's not fun - go.

A few examples:

Counterstrike was my life for ~6 years. I was cal-i for about 2 years, practiced 40h/week outside of school. Had a blast with local & national tournaments.
But eventually, I decided to pursue goals in the real world, and haven't looked back for over a decade.

Created my own scripts and bot for FFBE when it first came out. Had a blast learning how to code. But found it required too much time coding to have a top-tier account without being a whale.
While sitting in a hotel room in Japan with my Mrs. and doing a raid run at 2am on the toilet... I realized it was time to quit.

Which brings me to HR.

Absolutely love it :)

HS is a casual game.

Play for fun.
It's a nice break between Pomodoros.

Since I'm not coding the thing, it literally takes none of my time to improve my collection.

Turn on the bot before bed, turn it off in the morning (if it doesn't auto-complete everything before I wake up).
Play when time allows.

Lose my collection?
No big deal. It didn't cost me anything in the first place.

For the first time, I have a "healthy" relationships with gaming...
Because the bot is doing the grinding with no involvement from me (as it should be!)

I still have MTG days - cubing with friends in person (from a pool of ~1,000 "one-of" cards to draft decks... infinite replay-ability with no further investment)

And correspondence chess (chess will never go out of style - and grows with you).

So for what it's worth...

1. If it's fun - keep at it.
2. If it's taking more from your life than it's adding to it - STOP.

Easier said than done, I know.

But real-world rewards are generally more rewarding than digital ones -- even if they're more time, effort and RNG intensive :)
